Teacher assessment - Britney task
Hit Me Baby One More Time - BCHS A2 Media
Planning for the Britney task ^
Reflection on Britney task:
From the start I think that our group worked really well together as, we got everything done quickly and to a good level. It only took us one lesson to plan out what we had to do in each shot, how long it was for, and the costumes to get our video looking the same as the original. During the process of making the video we was able to see where people strengths and weaknesses lie, for example, some liked filming more than editing.
PLANNING-
The plan that we made was really helpful because, we got each shot that we had to do, and by the side we showed the location, costume, what is in the shot and the duration. This meant that we could be very prepared for when it actually came down to filming and we had to get everything sorted.
The filming of the video went quite well I think because, we got all the shots that we needed to do in time. It was easy to find the right location, because our school has a link where we could film and not disturb anyone in their lessons.
We all knew what we had to bring in for costume, so we all brought in the right outfit that we had to wear for the first day of shooting, but as it went on we didn’t all wear the same clothes as members of the group forgot to bring their costumes in. So if we had to do it again I would like everyone to have the same costume throughout as it would make the video look more professional, consistent and more like the actual video.
Another hard part for filming was doing the same action/dancing as they did in the video, all the people that were in our video aren’t dancers which means that we had to take what they were doing in the video and simplify it as well as trying to make it look the same, this took a lot of time for the group to learn and it was also hard trying to get everyone dancing in time to the music. These shots took some time because we was trying to get it as precise as possible and also trying to keep everyones attention on the task without getting distracted.
So if we had to do it again then we would of liked to of known the dance before we started filming so them we could go straight into it without trying to figure out what we needed to do next. The main thing that slowed us down was setting up, because the dancers had to get changed into their costumes then we had to set up the camera which took a while, this stopped us filming for the whole hour. This resolved in the group getting to lesson early so that we could set up earlier, then we would have had most of the hour to film and get the filming done. Everyone in the group got involved with the filming and every member of the group is in the video at some point, we also had different people playing Britney as we didn't want it to be the same person throughout.
EDITING-
The editing was quite difficult because, it was really hard to get the lip syncing in time with the music, and trying to get the dance moves in time was really hard as well. Again the whole group had a turn at editing a part of the video, which meant that we all had some say in how we wanted it to look.
From this task it has showed us how much planning that we are going to have to do for our music video to make sure that we can make it look like the original. Also when filming our video the lip syncing has to be in time with the music this would make the editing process easier. The editing has showed us how quick the shots have to be as the audience may get bored. This task has got the group excited about making our own music video later on in the year.
